The suspect in the Brooklyn subway shooting, Frank James, is in custody after New York police officers took him into custody Wednesday afternoon, multiple sources confirmed to Fox News Digital.
Frank R. James, 62, is being held in custody by officers at the New York City Police Department’s 9th Precinct where multiple law enforcement sources said the suspect accused of Tuesday’s shooting is being held pending charge.
“We have him,” Mayor Eric Adams said during a news conference Wednesday afternoon.
An official called the alleged killing spree a “terrorist attack on mass transit.”
James is accused of injuring 29 people at around 8:25 a.m. Tuesday morning at a subway station in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. James was allegedly aboard an N train bound for Manhattan during the morning rush hour when he put a gas mask on his face, unleashed a smoke canister and opened fire on the train and on the platform at the 36th Street subway station. At least 10 victims suffered gunshot wounds, officials said.
Authorities said James rented a U-Haul van from a Philadelphia store Monday and eventually drove the vehicle to a spot on Kings Highway in Gravesend, Brooklyn, where he parked the vehicle and entered a nearby subway station have. He rode about eight stops on the subway before triggering his attack, NYPD officials said Tuesday.

A general manager at the U-Haul site did not respond to Fox News Digital’s multiple requests for information.
