New York authorities have identified Frank R. James as a person of interest in connection with a shooting at a Brooklyn subway station Tuesday morning.

Police said James has addresses in Wisconsin and Philadelphia. His possible ties to New York City were not immediately clear.
“We want to determine if he has any connection to the attack,” New York City Police Department Chief of Police James Essig said.
A $50,000 reward is being offered for information about the shooting.
An armed suspect, donning a gas mask and construction vest, detonated a smoke canister and fired 33 times around 8:24 a.m. Tuesday morning at a Brooklyn subway and train station as a Manhattan-bound N train approached 36th St. Approaching station in Sunset Park, Brooklyn.
The suspect’s shots hit several people in the subway car and on the platform, authorities said. The suspect was described as approximately 5ft 5 tall, black male with a strong build and was at large Tuesday night.
At least 10 people were shot dead, including 7 men and 3 women, authorities said. Thirteen people sustained injuries from smoke inhalation, a fall or a panic attack. Five people were in critical condition but were expected to survive.
A total of at least 29 were treated in hospitals for gunshot wounds, smoke inhalation and other conditions. None of the injuries appeared to be life-threatening.
Police searched the city for the shooter and found a U-Haul in the Gravesend neighborhood with an Arizona license plate that may have been linked to the shooting. The van was found just over five miles from the 36th St. station.

Police blocked a road about four miles from the scene and cleared nearby businesses while awaiting a bomb squad and the highly specialized EMS unit.

Investigators found a credit card at the scene of the shooting, which led them to identify a person of interest, one of the law enforcement officials said, adding that the credit card was used to rent the U-Haul van that police are tracking down had made.
Investigators recovered a handgun at the scene, along with several smoking devices, a hatchet and other items that they are analyzing, officials said. They said the suspect had at least two extended magazines.
Investigators believe the gun jammed, preventing the suspect from continuing to fire, officials said. The Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives has completed an urgent search to identify the maker, seller and original owner of the gun.

Eric Adams, who showed up at local affiliate FOX 5 New York, New York City, previously said investigators are “following multiple leads” and are confident they will make an arrest.
